Dell U2417H buggy screen with random lines and randomly shutting off causes my main monitor to have the same problem

My Dad recently gave me an extra dell monitor from his work that was replaced due to "Broken flickering screen" I plugged in and tested the monitor and it had vertical lines and distorted imagery in the bottom 3rd of the screen and randomly turned off. I had been using a different monitor for my main screen and decided to try and use this one as a second monitor, I left it on overnight to see if it would fix itself and I woke up in the morning to find that my main monitor that is a different brand from dell was having very similar issues that the dell monitor was having that had never happened before. I dont know what is going on and its honestly making me pretty frustrated if anyone could help me out that would be great
