I have an Aurora R5 with an i7-6700. The CPU slot shows to be the same for the i7-8700k. Can I swap the 8700k processor into the mainboard on my computer?
As title says, I have an Aurora R5 with an i7-6700. The CPU slot (LGA 1151) shows to be the same for the i7-8700k. Can I swap the 8700k processor into the mainboard on my computer? Will the latest version of BIOS recognize the chip?

Hi ,
Unfortunately the Aurora R5 will not support 7th or 8th Gen processors.

Is there a motherboard that I can purchase from Alienware that will fit in the R5 case and will support the 8700k processor?

You'll need to call sales to see if they sell the motherboard as an spare part, although we do not recommend this replacement.
