Alienware 15r2 Not Charging

Hi I have been given an Alienware 15r2 i5 I am having an issue where the battery will not charge it says plugged in - not charging and it`s stuck at 1% so the laptop will not power up unless it`s plugged in, I have read that updating the bios may help but as the battery is stuck at 1% it won`t let me do it, I have also gone thru the Dell support and it says the battery health is good one thing that has occurred to me is that the charger I have been given is a 130W (UK) could this be the issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

Hi dan.e75‌,

What video card model do you have?

Also, you can try a power drain: Alienware: Power Drain - YouTube

Hi I’ve done the battery drain but still says plugged in not charging, The Dell support test said the battery health is good I’m guessing it’s the 130w charger I was given.

Regards

Dan

If the system is still in warranty, send me a private message with the service tag so I can assist you.

Hi,

I have resolved the charging issue by purchasing the 180w power supply.

Thanks for your help.
